No sir! This extraordinary benefit is limited to those fortunate souls who retire at the exalted stations of the highest echelons of service in agencies under the government's domestic apparatus.
The official reason – and I present this with a straight face – is to prevent these distinguished individuals from facing financial hardship. Imagine that! As if a high-ranking official with decades of government service would be found wanting.
This curious policy comes alongside other improvements including clearing a pile of over 50,000 pending promotions and establishing what they're calling a "world-class Fire Academy" to compare with the one in Arizona. Development proceeds, or so they tell us.
In my study of bureaucracies come up with methods to compensate their ranks, but this lifetime salary arrangement takes the cake. Any thinking person would ask: Why not extend such generosity to every government worker? Or better yet, to the regular people whose taxes fund these benefits?
